The Best Protein Fluff Recipe Known to Man.

Protein fluff... is an art. A passion if you will. But above all else,

It's really just protein powder whisked up in a bowl

And today? I'm going to give you the recipe so that you too can enjoy this high-protein, low-calorie treat that will give your favorite Ben & Jerry's pint... a run for its money. Let's go:

Protein Fluff.

A Basic Recipe.

Ingredients & Equipment

Here's what you'll need

- Firstly, you're going to need a casein based protein as whey protein alone simply won't work here. Here are some good options:

  • Optimum Nutrition Casein

  • Nitro Tech Casein

  • *Trutein (will need to add frozen fruit to the mix).

  • SixStar Casein

- Secondly, your going to need some carbonated water or a carbonated liquid beverage of choice. Plain water will also work while milk and other nut milks? Not as well as the former.

- Next, you'll need to acquire some xanthan gum found at any major grocery store. - And lastly, you're going to need a large bowl and a hand mixer, Kitchen Aide, or any type of contraption that will allow you to whip at high velocities.

Cooking Instructions

Here's how to make

1. Add your dry ingredients to the bowl as follow:

  • 1 serving of casein protein powder or roughly 34 grams.

  • 2 to 5 grams of xanthan gum or roughly 1/3 of a tablespoon.

  • Sugar, sweeter or stevia if desired in no specific amount. You can also add while mixing to nail the level of sweetness you're after. As the fluff forms, you'll be able to taste/adjust the sweetness to your liking.

2. Next, add 9oz of your carbonated liquid to the bowl and stir to ensure that no ingredients are stuck to the bottom.

3. Secure the bowl & whisk and begin mixing at low speed (can start on high speed if using a Kitchen Aide).

4. Increase the mixing speed to high power, so long as the liquid/ingredients are maintained in the bowl.

5. Allow to whisk for up to 10 mins and slowly add up to 2 more ounces of liquid if needed (more liquid = thinner consistency).

6. Taste while mixing and add more sweeter if desired.

- total calories for one bowl as seen above.

Got Fluff?

Now, keep in mind that this is only a bare bones recipe and other variations of this recipe can be used. You can experiment by adding frozen fruit, using different proteins blends, as well as using different flavored liquids in order to give your protein fluff a unique and delightful taste.

Now, as noted above, a strict whey protein powder won't maintain this rigid, fluffed form - however, you can certainly find protein powders with a 50/50 blend of whey and casein that will also work well. Although you may need to add frozen fruit to the mix in order for the protein blend to keep its structure (see below)

- it will still taste good (if not better) and make the fluff even more refreshing.

All in all though - this is a fun recipe to play around with and definitely a great treat for all my bodybuilding homies or athlete friends in season.

Try new flavors, get creative with this shi*#.... but about all else? Enjoy this refreshing protein treat.
